Grant Guidelines

The following is a summary of the policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors of the Oscar Rennebohm Foundation, Inc. with respect to the criteria it will use when acting upon requests for grants:

A. The Foundation shall affect its charitable purposes by making grants to operating 509(a)(1) and 509 (a)(2) organizations and shall avoid direct sponsorship of or distributions to individuals.

B. The Foundation shall make its grants to organizations operating in, and for projects benefiting, the greater Madison, Wisconsin/Dane County community.

C. The Foundation shall place and enforce appropriate conditions upon the grant recipients. These conditions may state actions to be completed before funds will be disbursed by the Foundation and will require reports from the grant recipient as to the use made of the grant and the results achieved by the grant. Grantees must seek and receive prior written approval to any substantial change in the use of its grant funds from those described in the grant proposal.

D. The Foundation shall use subcommittees of one or more members of its board of directors to investigate, analyze and recommend the disposition of the grant requests, which meets its threshold criteria.

E. The Foundation shall give preference to sponsorship of innovative projects and projects with defined goals.

F. The Foundation shall limit its commitments to retain its ability to promptly address the current and emerging needs of the Madison community and will avoid the establishment of fixed amounts or fixed ratios of its assets to be allocated to various categories of potential grant recipients.
